Do you like this? TV on mobile phone
We have been discussing about how innovative is the idea of Digital TV on mobile phone. It is technically feasible and already there are cases of field testing and sample deployment in few countries. I am not going to get into technicalities of this. I like to hear your views on how innovative is this? Do you like the idea or not?
A friend of mine is of opinion that mobile TV technology going to be a run-away hit in the Indian market. Already a lot of fairer sex friends are complaining that they couldnt watch those television serials when they are on the road. Now if a content provider starts telecasting those niche programs, people can enjoy it wherever they are. Even if they get struck in traffic, on the travel, they need not miss out their favorite programs. The flop side is going to be small screen size, which may switch off most of the users.
I like the idea of using my mobile phone as my personal entertainment center. Though my phone is not DVB-H enabled, I copied few video clips to the phone and watch it during my travels. Though the mobile phone screen is pretty small, it didnt kill my whole interest of watching.
Another friend is in opinion that the market for the mobile is not yet come. During FIFA world cup 2006, in
What are your views on this? Do you like this idea of seeing TV on mobile phone or strictly no-no?

Digital TV on Mobile might be run-away for a short time but I think its difficult to sustain with the network infrastructure we have. Service providers today are charging hell lot of amount for complete GPRS and experiments like this might take tons of time.
But if this sustains, first think I would see would be google ads all across the bottom of the channels. Doesnt this sound funny but this would be a big big multi billion dollar business model.
Hope someone comes out with more innovative thoughts........
Whats your opinion Satu???
Yeah gud one :)
But watching in small device inspite of getting used 2 bigger one.. is kind of diiferent/diificult ;)
we are being spoilt by this kinda new technology, aren't we? :P
=ammu=
@segu...
cost factor will be different dude. ditial tv dont need service providers bandwidth. it works in different freq and any media providers like zee, sun can transmit for mobiles also...
cost will be very less, comparable to ur monthly cable bills da..
This idea is very cute! I love to see TV on mobile. but there are lot of things to get improved
big screen and good power in phone is necessary
@pon...
small screen will be very painful, ila??!! thats true....
@ammu...
yep, i dont see TV these days becos i sit in office most of the time,
but if we gonna get tv on mobile, i bet i will start watching tv on office too, when i am free...
spoiling yaar...
Different thinking really.
I dont know how much of us have lost the family dinner,evening get togethers with family in front of TV. Back in India, we used to have dinner watching the news and other good programs, laugh together, feel together. After that we usually play carrom or cards, before sleeping. Guess this mobile tv would take these away too,
@arun..
thats sentimental angle to the thoughts....
why r u staying in US so long bro, com e back home!
Satu,
IMHO watching TV of such small size is crap. you cant enjoy it, it ll be strain to eyes. May be used for some military or research purpose thats all, definitely not for commercial
@ram..
yep the size seems to be major concern. mobile TV is not limited to mobile phones, it can be part of personal media players, in-car entertainment system. so there this small screen size can be overcome.
personally a good quality video with medium screen can overcome this disadvantage! Big screen alos mean more power consumption from every angle, whihc can be killer in using this
