Million $ Boy

Wondering what is this site? I found this link in Arun's blog.
This is an epoch making website in recent times. Its an unique innovative thought of Alex Tew, who was in need of one million USD for going to the univeristy. He started it on August 2005 with the idea of making a homepage with 1 million pixels and sell each pixel for $1.
Initially Alex pulled up his relatives to buy his first pixels for advertisements. Later inserted ads in press to get the business going. Within 4 months, his homepage is full of advertisements and still lot of people thronging on to buy pixels in his site to display their logo. The clinch is E-bay auctioned his last few hundred pixels for $38500 to an advertiser. Wow. What a piece of innovation!

I'nal post a mug week (updated)!

GP tagged me to this mug tag! Its the International Post A Mug week. Here is my favorite mug.

To tell you all truth, i found this image in web. Google image search result. Its jus love at first sight. I like this idea of seeing periodic table in a cute black mug. Mug tag got a lot of response from fellow bloggers. Here is the link to all those:
(The following is cross blogged from GP's, thanks bro)

The Mugs Strike Back!   (original author is GP and his cute mug which started all this is here )

It’s been a great tag week and a successful one too. A lot of Bloggers jumped in and posted their mugs. I thank everyone who took part in the first ever International Post A Mug Week. This tool we call blogging provides us with a stage to share and communicate to people around the world. The idea is to create something unique periodically to contribute to the gathering of the minds and to let the readers appreciate what we did. Tagging have always been present in the Blog circles, and even before if you consider chain letters as tags, but I believe we get sick of it after a few million times. Why waste so much time on insignificant lists of equally insignificant things when we can create so much interesting stuff here. The whole idea of the Mug tag is to let Bloggers appreciate something that is present in their daily lives, something ordinary and common yet something that has stories to tell.

I loved all of the mugs that the Bloggers posted, be it simple, with pictures and or if it’s posted with their loved soft toys on their work tables. We see so many varieties and stories. I was touched by the mug post of Tarun Jacob. Tarun is suffering from cancer and successfully going through chemo therapy. He posted his chemo mug, as he calls it and I was struck by how such a simple thing could be a tool so important for some of us. It makes us think of the significance of our surroundings from the people we meet to the things we use. You can read his Blog here; [Tarun].

Elsewhere mugs started appearing from around there world. The influx of ceramic wonders as many calls it happened almost in unison and some great mugs were spotted. Nayan had funny funny mug here, and Lorena was among the first with her mug along with Bailey the dog. Still had an elegant blue mug, and Saty pickep a mug from Google...NOT FAIR bro!, Miladyssa had a nice tall mug, IcyBlue with a beautiful Pieces mug, Vanathi had some mugs from the net, Vidya had 2 excellent mugs...I liked the NY mug alot, a superb Nascar mug from Kerry...I love the indy500 race, Mike with his duck-mug...you gotta love it!, Senthil with funny mug, loved Maruthams mug and hand shot :p, Jeevan with a nice glass mug, Tamilan with the classic tumbler!...I wondered who will put it, and thanx buddy for posting the great Indian drinking tumbler..., Frap gurl had a nice noir shot of a mug, Madelyn had a cool jack p toersons mug, Divya with a nice sunflower mug, and finally Ponnarasi with a nice Disney mug...thanx! I missed Scribz mug! She had a cool scary Halloween mug! Amutha, another blogger from Malaysia had a nice mug with a story.
And also I thank everyone who thought this idea was great and all the new bloggers who came to my blog and everyone that I might have missed...THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Till next year folks, if you see any good mugs out there, GET IT!
(original author is GP and his cute mug which started all this is here) Thanks bro for allowing me to cross blog your words!

Hot seats!

Few catchy biz deals that i noticed today are from corporate honchos who sit in hot seats in their empire.

  • Mukesh eyes Real estate. ET calls him a a real visionary for the big budget business plans he put forth for REL. Now reliance is entering real estate business through SEZ with a budget of Rs100,000 crore ( nearly US $20 Billion)
  • Aircel's sivachandran renters telco thru Tata tele. You might be aware that he sold out his aircel to singapore telco major for US $1.4Billion. He is buying less than 10% stake in tata tele for US $200M. Kewl guy!
  • Jet airways Naresh goyal acquire air sahara for Rs.2300 crore( 500 million US$). Air sahara's subrato sahara is known for his eye-flashy business work and hope his organisation also resembles him. Dunno how this acquisition gonna work out. Jet lost market share from 48% to 35% over the last year, which made them for IPO and buy and increase the business in air world.

Work hard to rule your world

Yesterday evening, I had an interesting chat with my uncle [I already spoke about him in +]. It was about workaholism and success as an offshoot. His words paraphrased as: After 5-6 years down your career, you need to work just to kill time. And at that point, you starts hardworking just to your keep your interests alive. Basically becoming workaholics for sake of its interets. You work towards some goals blindly. When your got struck up in not reaching your goals, just look around. In the years of hardwork, you would have arrived at some product as offshoot, which can really make you a fortune. I read in a book about people who worked for supercomputers. For supercomputer's memory storage purpose, those reasearchers developed RAID arrays of harddisk. Even before supercomputers hits the market, those RAID arrays were phenomenal hits, thats an interesting offshoot to your hardwork towards your goal. My uncle started an engineering company in vetenary medicine, hardworked for 15 years, stumble upon fire alarms market someway and now making a lot of waves in firealarm panel manufacturing. If you have interests in your field of work, be an workaholic to win in life. His organisation's proposed expansion plan in chennai.

Your Friend for life!

Honestly, I dunno much about Eureka forbes before doing research for this blog! Except that i have seen its adv and we bought a euroclean vacuum cleaner in past, not much acquaintance with this wonderful, cute company. What's catchy with Eureka is its financials (Really impressive for direct marketing company in India)
  • US $ 100M is annual revenue. Approx 500 crores INR which is equivalent to Cavinkare's 2004-05 annual revenue. Cavinkare is one more co. which i love to learn more about.
  • 6000 employees, 92 cities, 5 million existing customers and 1500 added daily
  • Wide product ranges. the famous ones are Euroclean vacuum cleaners, aqua guard water filters. Lesser know stuffs like air purifiers, security devices, forbes newell nutricook, cleaning agents with brands like shine, sparkle, metallica, swipe....
  • part of Shapoorji Pallonji group- biggest share holder of Tata Sons. Pallonji Mistry group is a construction baron. He has a highly diversified business including BPO- forbes gokak, Forbes techno sys, Forbes bradma business automation

Eureka Forbes statement on dreams is highly innovative. The aim to grow as 1000 crore company shows their aggressive growth target. Best wishes to Eureka Forbes!
